Only a matter of time. The PD endorsed Republican-backed Issue 6 (the 11 council seat thingy), and the very next day started going after the backers of Issue 5 (the kick-the-can-down-the-road thingy). The PD’s Mark Naymik today goes after Issue 5 architect, county prosecutor Bill Mason.

While leading an aggressive push to restructure county government that will eliminate patronage and cronyism embedded in elected offices, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason made one recent move that contradicts the spirit of his cause.

Mason hired Jennifer DiGeronimo as an assistant county prosecutor. DiGeronimo is the daughter-in-law of Bob DiGeronimo, co-owner of Independence Excavating and among the area’s reliable donors to Democrats. He was one of two dozen co-chairs of Mason’s 2008 and 2009 fund-raisers and his family has been a friend of the Masons since 2003. Bob DiGeronimo and family members contributed $5,050 to Mason since 2003.

I’m going to enjoy the next few weeks immensely. I may vote for both Issue 5 & 6, in the sole hope that if both pass it will keep the games going indefinitely.
